The British Are Coming - Japan 2015
For this residency my work was focused on what happens when the clarification of a word gets lost in translation. Traditionally one brings a gift of a 'rock' to a Japanese garden, however in this case the ‘rock’ in question was a traditional rock shop from Margate.
This light hearted piece was received very well, the juxtaposition of the beautiful Japanese garden and the bright rock shop allowing the humour of the work to be clearly communicated.
